The latest issue of the TIME magazine has highlighted the impact and the need for attention to the global phenomenon of global warming. It is not a new issue (which means that it has been around for some time probably because we are not doing enough to solve the problem or we might have problem solving it) which in turn make it a big issue now!
In this issue, it has suggested some 51 ways in which an individual or a community can help to reduce the effect of global warming, mainly through the reduction of CO2 emission. (Fair considering that CO2 makes up 80% of the total greenhouse gases)
Though i find some suggestions constructive and feasible, others are more theoretical or even repetitive of one other.
Personally, i do concern about the development this global phenomenon. Yah... i mean it is going to be an effect by the global community. And for the whole world to both agree and abey to an issue is definitely not going to be an easy task. (considering there are so many people with so many perspectives and special interests, it is difficult to believe and yet to monitor that nobody plays cheat) Things just get more complicated when more people are involved. But hentataki (march on spot) on the spot is not an option. What should we do ? Pretty tough question to answer.
The search for the answer carries on...

The Arena (Grand Final)
Notion: The youth today are LESS PREPARED for their future than their parent's generation.
Proposition: Hwa Chong Institution
Opposition: United world college
Well i must confessed that the United world college deserved to win. I like the style in which they have presented their case; their charm were of the top class. Points wise, they have a clearer direction of what they are arguing for as compared to Hwa Chong. Besides that, the United world college is more supreme and comfortable in their mastery of the language.
Now some opinion of mine on the notion itself:
Firstly, i must say that Hwa Chong do have quite a few good points in which they failed to put together to support their stand on the notion. For example: Factors such as skill, knowledge and attitude that is deemed to be (COMMON) issues which both generations face. However, what they have failed to put up a good fight on these Great points is that they did not set a COMMON PLATFORM for the two generations to be compared effectively on. And those 3 factors mentioned above could very well be the common factors faced by both generations when trying to establish a common platform for them to compared. This is the key to link back to the notion that one party is LESS (this is the keyword we consider) Prepared than the other. Now the Hwa Chong has touched on the point but failed to make an explicit case on it. (which I find rather unfortune) They shld never make any assumption that the opposition or the audience understand what they are trying to imply between the lines. Being very explicit is the way to kill the opponent when they tried to smoke through, esp. you know that they are very persuasive and charming in giving audience impressions. (Don't give them the chance to do that!)
Secondly, on debating tatics. We do get nervous and tongue tied sometimes but that shld not occur too freq. Eye contact is one of the key factors. For Hwa Chong, I find speaker no. 2 has a better style than the other 2 debaters.
Overall, i see great potential lies ahead for all the debaters from both parties. I hope you all find my comments helpful. =)

"Talking In Bed"
Raffles hotel is a nice venue to held the play. Excellent choice =) As for the play, it is not bad. There are as always - rooms for improvement. Overall, it is a meaningful event considering it is a charity work for the KKH children! =)

NS's Stuff
First, let's start off with something pleasant!
Advantages of NS:
1) U get to enjoy Beautiful Starry Night Sky during outfield if the sky is clear!
(I saw my first shooting star in Tekong 100m night range)
2) U get to come close.. very close to nature. (Sometimes a little too close, for instance, u see grasshoppers hopping over ur rifle as u r in prone position)
